Fisher Valley Century Ranch
Protected in 2016
Acreage: 1162
Grand County, UT

A sustainable working cattle ranch, a dramatic view from adjacent BLM lands, and an iconic western landscape have now been permanently protected through the purchase of a conservation easement on the Fisher Valley Ranch. The property contributes one of the most dramatic scenic vistas in this area of Utah’s redrock country. Adjacent to BLM campsites the view will be witnessed by many who camp near this dramatic landscape on the outskirts of Moab and Arches National Park. The land has been in the same family hands for seven generations. One of the original homesteads in the area still stands today a root cellar still intact. Elk, black bear, deer and many raptor and songbird species frequent the ranch as it provides significant habitat for these species. For this family who has stories that date back to when the land was homesteaded, the only way to keep the land in the hands of the family was a conservation easement. Utah Open Lands was pleased to be able to work with the family to accomplish this amazing preservation.
