Charles Jewell and Erma S. Richins Heritage Ranch Preserve combines the land ethic of a landowning family with the critical need to preserve a ranching heritage, wildlife, and an historic viewscape that provides a window into the past. The Richins Ranch Preserve property harbors a lek for the greater Sage Grouse. This active lek is essential for sage grouse survival. Not only is this area ideal for sage grouse mating displays, but also famous as a place where Pony Express Riders, Mormon pioneers, and those headed overland to California were stalled by fierce spring storms. Eventually almost everybody kept moving on, but the Richins Family chose to stay. This land has been in the family for generations.
