Emigration Canyon

The Protected Property consists of natural habitat for wildlife and plants and includes forest land. CF GILLMOR Scenic and Wildlife Preserve is currently classified as green belt, and a minimum of 100 trees are planted annually. The Property serves as a valuable water resource. Further, the property has historic ties to the settling Pioneers. In January 20, 1961 Emigration Canyon (US route 65) was designated a National Historic Landmark.  The Property is part of the canyon viewshed readily viewed from this State route.  The State route is significant as its designation includes its value as part of the Mormon Pioneer Trail, the California Overland Trail, and the trail used by the Donner-Reed Party.
