Catherine Cargill, Deputy Director
has been the Operations Director for Utah Open Lands since 2000. During these 17 years she has overseen the successful completion of 50 conservation projects which equal more than 50,000 acres. As Operations Director, she has consistently ensured attainment of the organization’s goals, including those related to new projects, stewardship, and finances. Catherine maintains financial oversight of the organization. She is the primary initial contact at Utah Open Lands for many landowners, and has developed and facilitated collaborative relationships with government entities, other organizations, and within Utah Open Lands itself. She successful lead the organization through the Land Trust Alliance’s Accreditation process. She is the webmaster for Utah Open Lands. Catherine also acts as the organization’s graphic designer, bringing to the organization a set of skills and talent represented by her M.F.A. from the University of Montana, and B.F.A. from the Art Institute of Chicago, where she studied and taught. She served as board and President of the Salt Lake City Arts Academy. In addition to seeing Catherine’s work every time you view one of the beautiful open spaces conserved by Utah Open Lands, you can find her paintings at the Museum of Fine Art in Missoula, Montana, and in the permanent collection at the University of Montana. She will tell you that her greatest creations include her two wonderful daughters.
