BEAR RIVER RANCHES -
MONVISO OPEN SPACE
Protected in 2007
Acreage: 2010
Summit County, UT

Bear River Ranches-Monviso Open Space is bordered by the Bear River, alpine forests with meadows and small lakes and ponds, adjacent to the Wasatch-Cache National Forest. This Open Space is a heavily vegetated area which provides good cover for large mammals such as deer, elk, and moose. The Bear River itself is home to several trout species, including the rare Bonneville Cutthroat Trout. The lakes provide a home for passing water fowl. The large Bear River riparian corridor can be viewed from Highway 140, a UT Scenic Byway.
