OUR MISSION

Utah Open Lands (UOL) is a 501c(3) nonprofit Accredited land trust conservation association.  Our mission is to preserve, protect and steward open space in order to maintain Utah’s natural heritage and quality of life for present and future generations.  This is achieved by assisting private landowners, government agencies and communities in the voluntary preservation of the agricultural, scenic, recreational, historic and wildlife values of open land.

Utah Open Lands is committed to permanently protecting  Utah's unique quality of life and natural heritage for future generations.  We seek to create a conservation conscious public that respects the deliberate balance of heritage, biodiversity, restoration and resources of the land.

OUR VISION
A LITTLE BACKGROUND

Utah Open Lands' land saving mission began in 1990, in an office on Prospector Avenue in Park City, UT. At that time, we started out as Summit Land Conservency in Summit County which was one of the top five fastest growing counties in the nation. As the pressures of growth and development increased, the need for open space protection was even more urgent, not just in Summit County but in all of Utah.  In response, we became Utah Open Lands, a regional land trust with the mission of serving as a statewide resource for land preservation.

ACCREDITED

Utah Open Lands is an accredited land trust.Accreditation means Utah Open Lands meets national quality standards for protecting important natural places and working lands forever. Utah Open Lands has demonstrated to the Land Trust Alliance Accreditation Commission our commitment to excellence.
